My Story

I've been on CPAP therapy for several years, and for most of that time I was told my numbers looked fine. My AHI was under 5, my usage was compliant, and every follow-up appointment ended the same way: "Keep doing what you're doing." But I wasn't sleeping well. I was exhausted, foggy, and frustrated.

I went through additional sleep studies, saw multiple specialists, and even had my machine sent in for testing — all at significant personal cost. None of it gave me the answers I needed. Then I discovered that my CPAP machine had been recording detailed breath-by-breath data on its SD card the entire time — data that the MyAir app never showed me.

When I finally looked at that data, I found sustained flow limitation patterns consistent with UARS (Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome) — a condition that flies under the radar of standard AHI scoring. The machine's auto algorithm wasn't responding to it. A simple minimum pressure adjustment changed everything.

That experience is why I built CPAP Insights. I believe every CPAP user deserves access to the full picture of their therapy data, explained in plain language, without needing to spend thousands on appointments that may not look at the right things. The data is already there — it just needs to be unlocked.

I'm not a doctor, and CPAP Insights doesn't replace medical advice. But I am someone who understands what it's like to feel dismissed by normal-looking numbers while still struggling to sleep. This tool is built from that experience.

Why I Write About CPAP Therapy

My perspective comes from lived experience as a CPAP user who spent years and thousands of dollars trying to optimize my own therapy. I've personally navigated the diagnostic process, multiple sleep studies, specialist appointments, and the frustration of being told everything is "fine" when it clearly wasn't.

The articles on this site are informed by published sleep medicine research, AASM (American Academy of Sleep Medicine) clinical guidelines, and the practical knowledge that comes from building a tool used by thousands of CPAP users to analyze their own data.

I'm not a physician, and nothing on this site constitutes medical advice. But I understand the data these machines produce, and I believe informed patients get better outcomes.
